IFJ-SAMSN violations monitoring is undertaken by the IFJ Asia-Pacific, together with IFJ affiliates in South Asia. IFJ mapping provides specific categorisation of violations of journalists across the region by UNESCO Journalists\u2019 Safety Indicators (JSIs). These indicators are further defined by IFJ classifications.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The shutdowns recorded here <\/span>indicate those where IFJ has issued statements.<\/span>\u00a0Arrests and jailing <\/span>are listed under threats to journalists but are further <\/span>detailed under the IFJ indicators above. Due to dedicated monitoring units in some IFJ affiliated organisations in some countries in South Asia (e.g. Nepal and Pakistan), violation figures may be higher than those with fewer monitoring resources.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
