Tarun Acharya
Tarun Acharya, 34, was murdered at 10:30pm on May 27, 2014. He was attacked with sharp weapons by some unidentified miscreants at a lonely place near Khallikote police station and Excise office while he was riding a motorcycle on his way to his home in Bikrampur, about 15 km away from Khallikote. P Shyam Sundar Prusty, owner of a cashew nut processing factory, and N Ramesh Reddy, owner of a light and sound unit, paid contract killers to injure him after publication of a report in Odia daily Sangbad about use of child laborers in Prusty's factory.

A 27-year-old journalist on assignment was allegedly gang-raped by two people in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh, Northern India. The journalist had gone to Asthabhuja temple to research her story on historic temples in Vindhyachal region and was returning hotel late evening when she was abducted, taken to an isolated place, raped by the two assailants and later dumped in a forest area.
