NUJ(I) condemns brutal murder of Kishore Dave
25 Aug, 2016Condemning in strongest words the cold-blooded murder of a young and promising journalist, Kishore Dave, the bureau chief of ‘Jai Hindi’ newspaper, at his office in Saurasthtra, Gujarat, the NUJ(I) and state affiliate NUJ(Guajrat) demanded urgent action against those who incited and carried out the brutal murder.
Describing the murder as “barbarous”, NUJ(I) President Ras Bihari said Kishore Dave was murdered in broad day-light in his office by a local politician’s son. “We offer our heartfelt condolences to Kishore Dave’s family, and implore the authorities to bring those responsible for the murder to justice, and break the cycle of violence and impunity that has plagued in the state for so long. We also demand the police and judiciary to ensure that the culprits do not go unpunished. The NUJ(India) will soon send a fact finding committee comprising senior journalists to investigate the facts into the murder,” he added .
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Kishore Dave,” said NUJ(I) Secretary General Ratan Dixit. “Too many journalists in Gujarat are being attacked with impunity. We demand immediate investigation into the murder and justice to the family. We call upon all the national and international bodies to condemn the act and this brutal form of silencing should end,” he added.
NUJ Gujarat Convenor Bhavesh Aacharya informed that we took the matter seriously and pressurized the government to immediate book the culprit after that 3-4 culprits has been arrested and keeping a close eye on the matter.
