India: NUJ, DJA and UPJA demand financial assistance of one crore to the family of journalist Ratan Singh
26 Aug, 2020The National Union of Journalists-India NUJI, Delhi Journalists ‘Association (DJA) and UP Journalists’ Association (UPJA) have sought Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s assistance of one crore rupees to the family of senior journalist Late Ratan Singh.
NUJ(I) President Ras Bihari, Delhi Journalists Association President Rakesh Thapliyal, General Secretary K P Malik and UPJA President Ratan Dixit said that the compensation amount announced by the Chief Minister is very low which should be increased to one crore. Journalist was shot and killed in Ballia district, there is a lot of fury in the media world due to the murder of journalist. Police system has completely failed in the state, due to poor law and order and the working style of Uttar Pradesh Police, continuous attacks on journalists are increasing. News channel journalist Ratan Singh was shot dead late Monday night in Fafna in Ballia district.
NUJ President Rasbihari has demanded a judicial inquiry into the murder of journalist Ratan Singh. We demand from the Chief Minister to constitute a high level inquiry committee and strict action against the policemen who were negligent and to increase the compensation amount.
