Afghanistan: Supportive Fund for Afghan Journalists was opened

The national supportive fund for Afghan journalists and media workers were opened in Kabul, Afghanistan. Vice President Sarwar Danish of Afghanistan opened the national supportive fund for media outlets saying that the government was only observer and supportive of the fund—the supportive fund is nonprofit and no governmental organization. 

In the past, the national supportive fund for the journalists and media workers had faced fierce criticism and even corruption allegations. This time, the supportive fund will be overseen by a group of volunteers that include journalists, media advocacy groups and government officials. The supportive fund is established to support any journalists and media workers who need fund and help in their lives. 13 people oversea the supportive fund for journalists and media workers:

  1. Mohammad Asif Ahmadzai, representative of National Academy.
  2. Mizaki Ahmadzai, journalism lecturer at Kabul University.
  3. Hujatullah Mujadidi, representative of joint committee of government and media outlets
  4. Saber Momand, representative of Ministry of Information and Culture.
  5. Zahra Mousavi, representative of commission of access to information
  6. Sediqillah Tawhidi, representative of Afghan Journalists Safety Committee
  7. Samsama Seerat, reporter for Voice of America
  8. Haris Jamalzada, reporter for One TV
  9. Jawid Hamim, reporter for Pazhwak Afghan News Agency
  10. Dawakhan Menapal, chief of government center for information
  11. Abdul Mujib Khalwat Gar, member of Federation of Journalists
