PFUJ Statement: Illegal termination from Jang Group
30 Jun, 2025Lahore: The President of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Rana Muhammad Azeem, and Secretary General Shakeel Ahmad have strongly condemned illegal termination of journalist staff from the Jang Group and the closure of one of its newspaper Daily Awaaz. The PFUJ leadership have stated that they will not only stage countrywide protests against it but will also take the matter to court of law. Reportedly, 129 journalists and other employees have been suddenly laid off from the Lahore Jang, Daily Awaaz office, while 8 journalists and other employees have also been immediately dismissed from the Multan Jang office. The PFUJ leadership has vehemently condemned the economic killing of journalists by an organization that claims to be the largest media institution in the country, describing it as a cruel and ruthless act. The PFUJ leadership stated that exploiting journalists under the guise of an economic crisis in the media industry is unacceptable in any regard.
