Afghanistan : AIJA urges not to revoke spokespersons’ provision
21 Dec, 2020President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan in a decree abolished the role of all spokespersons across the country. In the past, each province had a spokesperson to share information with the media. President Ghani now wants governors to share information and abolished the role of spokespersons. Journalists and media clubs have reacted to the decree. Even though spokespersons were not helpful always, they were the primary source of information. AIJA calls this move as a new way to limit the information. AIJA calls on President Ghani to revoke the decree as governors were not available for the reach of journalists.
