Pakistan: PFUJ condemns Israel for Killing women Journalists
15 May, 2022Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the killing of a
women Journalists Shireen Abu Akleh in Palestine while she was performing her
professional duty.
Abu Akleh, a longtime TV correspondent for Al Jazeera Arabic, was killed on Wednesday
while covering Israeli army raids in the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
Abu Akleh was wearing a press vest and was standing with other journalists when she was
targeted with a bullet. The Israeli Army again attacked her funeral procession and many
were wounded yesterday.
Another Al Jazeera journalist, Ali al-Samoudi, was also wounded by a bullet in the back at
the scene but he is now in stable condition.
PFUJ President GM Jamali, Vice President Sheher Bano and Secretary General Rana
Muhammad Azeem in a joint statement, said that Israeli Army has been attacking not only
the Palestinians but a number of Journalists from different nations have been arrested,
tortured jailed just for exposing the Israeli soldiers while attacking unarmed Palestinians.They continued that Journalists have to perform their duties in peace and war while forces
do take care of journalists under international law but Israeli soldier do not abide by any law
and their brutal act of killing a women journalist was a war crime which demands world
journalist community to stand up against this for justice.
“We join hands with the world community to condemn this incident and demanded a
transparent investigation at the UNO level,” PFUJ leadership concluded.
