Pakistan: PFUJ condemns KP CM, demands unconditional apology
11 Sep, 2024Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President GM Jamali, Secretary General Rana Muhammad Azeem, and Federal Executive Council members have strongly condemned Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur’s derogatory remarks against journalists in Islamabad, demanding that he not only withdraw his statement immediately but also apologise to the journalist community. The PFUJ leadership says that all journalists perform their duties in difficult and adverse circumstances and cover political parties’ activities professionally and his words are unacceptable.
Political figures consider the media and journalists as their voice while in the opposition, but as soon as they are part of the government, they consider journalists as their opponents. Likewise, Ali Amin Gandapur used inappropriate and immoral words for journalists in his speech recently, only to please followers at a public meeting in Islamabad.
The PFUJ leadership called upon the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to take notice of the indecent attitude and words used by the Chief Minister KP and demanded that he immediately issue an unconditional apology to the journalist community, otherwise, journalists will not only boycott the party’s activities but will also protest across the country.
