26 Mar, 2021Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned murder threats to PFUJ Secretary General Rana Muhammad Azeem for exposing mafia in his TV talk show and demanded Chief Minister Punjab and IG Punjab Police to provide security to PFUJ Secretary immediately.
The PFUJ Secretary General Rana M. Azeem received murder threats from a notorious gangster when he exposed his malfunctions in a TV talk show on 92 News channel the other day. President GM Jamali and all the PFUJ affiliated regional Union leaders have strongly condemned the threats and said that threats to the working journalists has become a common phenomena in Pakistan but the government is taking no action despite repeated demands and protests. “Journalists are duty bound to expose gangsters and other anomalies in the society so that the authorities take necessary action to eradicate them. This is not the first case and Journalists have to face threats and consequences but the government has failed to provide security to the journalists despite repeated demands,” Jamali said.
He continued that the authorities in the Punjab Province and Federal government must take action and arrest gangster in next 24 hours for giving threats to Rana Azeem otherwise a country wide protest would launched.
