Mohamed Niyaz, Mohamed Wisam and Adam Zareer
On March 24, Mohamed Niyaz, a cameraman for Channel One TV was arrested, while on March 25, Mohamed Wisam and Adam Zareer, media workers for Raajje TV, which is known for its pro-opposition stance, where arrested while covering an opposition demonstration in Male. Each were arrested ‘for obstructing police duties’. The Maldivian Police accused Niyaz of obstructing police duties by aiming the camera light directly towards the police officers, while he was filming. All three were produced to the Criminal Court, and each were remanded in custody for five days but no charges were filed against them.

Journalist
According to Raajje TV, one of their senior journalists had received death threats via a phone call and text message on Sunday, February 15. The journalist received a call from Abdulla Yamin, a member of the Maldives parliament, who is currently working to establish his own television state. Yamin requested that a former Raajje TV employee be allowed into the building to collect his belongings. The journalist said that the belongings would need to be verified by security first.

Minivan News
A machete knife was lodged into the door of the Minivan News office shortly after a notorious gangster removed a CCTV camera from outside the building.
