Haider Khan
An attempt was made on the life of stringer Haider Khan. Khan was working for a local TV station in Pilibit district and, at the time of his attack, was reporting on a land usurpation case. Jagendra Singh
Freelance journalist Jagendra Singh was set on fire in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in India’s north. Singh died from major burn injuries sustained after he was allegedly set alight a week earlier. Singh, 42, died in Lucknow Hospital on June 9, after he was brought in with burns to 60 percent of his body following the June 1 incident.

A 27-year-old journalist on assignment was allegedly gang-raped by two people in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh, Northern India. The journalist had gone to Asthabhuja temple to research her story on historic temples in Vindhyachal region and was returning hotel late evening when she was abducted, taken to an isolated place, raped by the two assailants and later dumped in a forest area.
